Participating in the Urimon study

Participation in the Urimon study involves completing a short questionnaire about your current health periodically. In addition, you will periodically fill two small tubes of morning urine using the urine kit provided by us. You will receive this urine kit through your mailbox and then return it to us free of charge via a PostNL mailbox. Participation lasts for 2 years, after this period you can extend your participation. You can read the detailed procedure of the study below.

Participating in the Urimon study is free of charge. The costs of processing your material at the laboratory will not be deducted from your deductible.

Methodology

Urimon, a new form of health monitoring in primary care

Step 1:
If you are in a stable health condition and are between 45 and 75 years of age or if you have a higher risk of certain diseases and are between 30 and 75 years of age, you can participate in the Urimon study. You can register for this at www.urimon.nl/en/register. You will then receive an e-mail with an information letter and the informed consent forms.

Once you have read all the information and decided to participate in the study, please complete the consent form for the Urimon study and the consent form for the Stibion biobank digitally and sign both documents digitally. You can also print out the consent forms from the email and sign them. Then send them to Stibion by email or post.

Step 2:
After signing both consent forms, enter your address where we will send the starter kit with the first urine tubes. You will also need to enter your GP details and create a username and password. You will then be automatically redirected to the first questionnaire, which you can fill in.

Step 3:
The instruction form included in the Urimon letterbox envelope explains step by step how to collect and return the urine sample. See the document for the instructions: “Instructions for collecting a urine sample“.

Step 4:
Every four months, you will receive a new Urimon letterbox envelope and fill out a new short questionnaire online. You can do this either on your computer via our website or on your phone and/or tablet via our Urimon app.

You will automatically receive a reminder for this questionnaire.

Urimon cooperates with various GP practices, pharmacies, patient associations, laboratories and medical specialists/researchers in hospitals throughout the Netherlands. If your GP, pharmacy, patient association or medical specialist does not work together with Urimon, that is not a problem. You can still participate in the Urimon study! All participants in the Netherlands can send their urine samples by post in the designated mailbox package.
